Skin Care Cancer at Terrey Hills family Surgery

Dr Sofia Ambreen holds a Diploma in skin cancer from Australasian college of skin cancer and provides skin cancer assessments using clinical examination and dermoscopy where appropriate.

If a skin lesion requires further investigation, your GP will discuss the available management options. Depending on your clinical needs, this may include monitoring, biopsy, skin cancer excision or referral to an appropriate specialist. Where a procedure is recommended, our team can assist you in arranging a suitable appointment.

Early detection saves lives

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Regular skin examinations may assist in identifying skin lesions that require monitoring, investigation or treatment.

Our GPs provide assessment and management of skin health concerns, including skin cancer checks, the assessment of new or changing skin lesions, and the investigation and management of suspicious lesions where appropriate.

Our services

  • Full skin examinations and skin cancer checks
  • Assessment of moles, pigmented lesions and new or changing skin lesions
  • Assessment and management of sun-damaged skin
  • Skin biopsies
  • Skin cancer excisions
  • Cryotherapy for suitable lesions
  • Follow-up skin surveillance
  • Sun protection and skin cancer prevention advice

Who should consider a skin check

A skin check may be appropriate if you:

  • Have a personal or family history of skin cancer
  • Have fair skin or a history of significant sun exposure
  • Have multiple or atypical moles
  • Have noticed a new, changing or non-healing skin lesion
  • Have previously been treated for skin cancer

Your GP can discuss your individual risk factors and recommend an appropriate schedule for ongoing skin surveillance where indicated.

Your appointment

When booking, please let our reception team know if you would like a full skin check so we can allow adequate time. On the day, please avoid wearing makeup or nail polish, and wear clothing that is easy to remove. Fees for procedures such as biopsies and excisions vary — our reception team can advise you of any costs when booking.
