Appointments & New Patients

Can I book an appointment online?

Yes. Appointments can be booked online 24 hours a day using our online booking system, the AMS Connect app. You are also welcome to call our friendly reception team on (02) 9450 1083 during business hours.

Do I need to make an appointment?

All patients must book an appointment in advance. Appointments are required to ensure adequate time with your doctor. Same-day appointments may be available from time to time for urgent medical concerns. 

How long are appointments?

Standard appointments are suitable for most health concerns.

If you have multiple issues to discuss, require a procedure, or need a Mental Health Care Plan, please request a longer appointment when booking. You may view our appointment rates here.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring:

  • Your Medicare card
  • Pension or concession card (if applicable)
  • Current medication list
  • Specialist letters or referrals
  • Pathology or imaging requests
  • Relevant test results or reports

Are new patients welcome?

Yes. Terrey Hills Family Surgery welcomes new patients and families. We are committed to providing comprehensive, long-term healthcare for patients of all ages. 

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

We ask that appointments be cancelled with as much notice as possible.

Do you offer Telehealth Services?

Yes. Telehealth consultations are available for existing patients, providing you have had an initial face-to-face appointment with one of our doctors.

Can I choose my preferred GP?

Yes you can choose your preferred GP at Terrey Hills Family Surgery. When booking an appointment via the AMS Connect app you can select your specific doctor according to their availability, alternatively phone the practice and speak to our friendly team.

fees, Medicare & Billing

Do you offer Medicare rebates?

Yes. Medicare rebates are available for eligible consultations and procedures. If you have a valid Medicare card, your rebate will be processed electronically at the time of payment and deposited directly into your nominated bank account.

How do Medicare rebates work?

Patients pay the consultation fee on the day of their appointment. We then process your Medicare claim electronically, and your rebate is usually deposited into your nominated bank account within 24 to 48 hours.

Do you bulk bill?

Terrey Hills Family Surgery is a mixed billing practice.

Children under 14 years of age, Pension Card holders and DVA Gold Card holders are generally bulk billed. Other patients are charged a private fee, with Medicare rebates available for eligible services.

Can I register for MyMedicare?

Yes you can register with MyMedicare. Registering helps strengthen the ongoing relationship you have with our practice, supporting more personalised, coordinated healthcare and improved continuity of care over time.

Do I need a Medicare card?

A Medicare card is recommended for accessing Medicare rebates. If you do not have a Medicare card, consultations and procedures will be charged privately.

Medical Services & Referrals

Can I request a repeat prescription or referral?

Repeat prescriptions and specialist referrals usually require a consultation with your GP to ensure your care remains safe and up to date. You may view repeat prescription eligibility here.

Urgent same-day requests may attract an administration fee.

What happens if I need a specialist?

Your GP can arrange referrals to trusted specialists and coordinate your ongoing care to ensure you receive the most appropriate treatment.

Do you provide Mental Health Care Plans?

Yes. Our doctors provide Mental Health Care Plans for eligible patients. These plans may provide access to Medicare rebates for appointments with psychologists and other allied health professionals.

Please book a longer consultation for Mental Health Care Plans.

Can you provide medical certificates?

Yes. Medical certificates can be issued when medically appropriate during a consultation with your doctor.

Do you provide childhood immunisations?

Yes. We provide routine childhood vaccinations in accordance with the National Immunisation Program, as well as travel and adult vaccinations.

Pathology & Test Results

Is pathology available onsite?

Yes. 4Cyte Pathology is conveniently located onsite, allowing patients to have blood tests and other collections in the same location as their GP appointment. A valid referral from your doctor is required.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:30am - 13:30pm

Saturday:  9am - 12:30pm

Do I need to fast before a blood test?

Some blood tests require fasting. If fasting is required, your doctor or pathology referral form will provide instructions. Water may be permitted - please check with your doctors.

How do I access my test results?

Results are reviewed by your doctor. We recommend booking a follow-up appointment to discuss your results and any treatment recommendations.

For privacy and patient safety, results are generally not provided over email.

What if I need medical advice after hours?

For urgent medical assistance outside our opening hours, please contact the National Home Doctor Service on 13 SICK (13 74 25) or call 000 in an emergency or attend Northern Beaches Hospital.
